Top 3 Tips For Jet Lag

Jet lag is never fun, but you know what is? Not having jet lag. Here are my best tips, so that you can enjoy the first few days in a different time zone for a more extended amount of time. Just three simple tips.

1.)  Eat lots of fruit. Especially apples for the energy, to help stay up till at least 7’0clock, plus it keeps your mind off the pillow. Don’t give into your coffee addiction and energy drinks; you might not be able to fall asleep when you need to.

*One time my parents made us stand up until it was time for dinner, it felt like torture!

2.) Plan your day out, including when you should go to bed. Set a reasonable time like seven O’clock.  When you have a plan for the day, it keeps you busy, and it will put you in the mindset of getting things done. (sometimes helps with forgetting about that comfortable pillow waiting for you)

*Once my family and I were sleeping all day, then at night it was like we were just going through a typical day. Cooking meals, watching tv, doing homework, playing board games, etc….*

3.) Walk everywhere that’s within walking distance. It keeps you active. Plus there is no bed around, and I am pretty sure you do not want to fall asleep on the sidewalk.

I’m Back, and We got lost in Japan (Part 1)

I missed being here! Sorry for the long break, but I’m back and oh boy do I have some stories for you. One of which happened a couple days ago….. so here we go!

Alright so a couple of weeks ago my brother got an opportunity to audition for a modeling gig ( I can’t mention any name since he signed a contract today saying he won’t talk about it online). Anyway, last week on valentines day we had to make our way to a whole new, different side of Tokyo, Japan.

The drama began before we had even left the military base we live on because we needed a taxi to get to our car and let me tell you, this 5 dollar ride was anything but fresh (if you know what I mean😷 ). So we made it to the car, and as soon as we got off base we realized that the car was low on gas again emoji😷!

When we got on base to refill the car with gas, my brothers and I went inside to prepay for lane 4  (remember this, lane 4) he repeatedly asked “lane 4?” My brother tries to start pumping the gas, but it wasn’t working, so the guy came out to help us after greeting his buddy at lane five after ten maybe 15 minutes of trying with this guy, he came out and laughed that he thought we meant lane 3. 😑 WHAT!!!!! I SAID LANE 4!

We made it to Tokyo 2 hours later and parked our car at a military hotel ” The New Sanno” and couldn’t decide whether not to take the train or bus…… find out what happened next…next week.

I turned 17

Recently I’ve turned 17 years old and it made me realize that I will never get a do-over on 16 so I started to think about the things I have learned from 16-year-old Mya.

  1. Growing up isn’t all that great! I made this pretty clear in my last birthday post but  I’ll say it again. ” I wish I was 7 years old all over again.
  2. Be proud of my mistakes, at least now I know how to avoid them and that alone will make life just a little easier.
  3. Appreciate what I have while I have it.  The realization of me never being 16 again just hit me like a ton of bricks and to that, I say ” Here to only being 17 once”
  4. “Friendships cause heart breaks too” – Wolfyla
  5. When you feel conflicted, fix it.
  6. Procrastination is the devil.
  7. Never assume anything, do your research.
  8. Apparently, I NEED to work out and make it a lifestyle.
  9. You don’t need to prove yourself to anybody.
  10. You can live without the people who don’t have time for you.
  11. I’m not alone.
  12. Comparisons are the worse things to do to one’s personalities.
  13. I can live without sugar and I really don’t want it.
  14. A part of me will always want to play softball.
  15. I need to travel or try something new to live.
  16. 16 doesn’t last forever.
  17. Family is everything NO matter how far away they are.

9. Sushi Go Round

Sushi go round is so inexpensive; they charge 100 yen($1.00) to 500 yen ($5.00) per plate. Be careful tho, the sushi goes around the entire restaurant and makes it’s everything look so appealing you’ll run your bill up and barely be able to walk out the door.

8. Indian Curry

I know what you’re thinking. “Why would I eat Indian Curry when I’m in Japan?” Here in Japan you can actually get authentic curry and be a part of the activities of the locals.

7. Friendship Day Festival

6. Shrines Sight Seeing.

Shrines are everywhere here in Japan but it’s the history and the view that makes them all very interesting.

5. Ride the Trains

Riding the trains in Japan is an experience in its self. Most likely you will get lost the first time on the trains but that’s the best part. Someone will always be happy to help you need to find your way back. Not to mention where ever you end up at you can adventure off and worry about getting back later. (True Story)

2. Have a photo shoot at a local park

1. Visit Ueno Park

I love Ueno Park, not only is there a zoo and Natural Museum but there is also a huge market in the center waiting with crazy good food that you can only get in Japan and if you’re not feeling adventurous with the food, there is Starbuck in front of the zoo.

Why I Went Vegetarian (Short post)

Hello World Wide Web of beautiful people.

For three years now I have been slowly cutting meat out of my daily diet. Even though I still get tempted to have a McDonald hambrger, I can now claim the vegetarian title. Except on thanksgiving, that’s too much. 😉  In the past year I have been able to make vegetarian meals for my family and myself, which I’m extremely proud of . Since it’s summer time I’ve been craving a burger or a hotdog at cookouts. Fortunately thanks to the internet there is always a vegetarian option and alternative.

It’s been really hard to not eat meat in the past two years. Fortunately  my family has been really supportive, which makes meat less tempting .

I have noticed certain changes about myself. For instance, my senses of smell have become extremely sensitive to certain meats and unpleasant fragrances. It has gotten to the point where I am nauseous at the smell of bacon.

That’s not why I’m writing this. I guess I’m writing this for me. So I can finally put the reason why the change of diet into words.

My family’s health has become a concern after my dad became an Insanity instructor. We have cut a lot of processed food out of our lives. Because we would read articles about how “such ‘n such” could cause cancer. When we moved to Italy, I saw how clean the Italians ate and I wondered why is America so accepting of all this junky, greasy food that won’t spoil for weeks or maybe even months. Where as it for the Italian’s food would spoil in a couple a days.

People would ask me why.   Why are you switching?   Why are you giving up meat?   As if it’s inhuman.   This in fact is I didn’t give up meat.   I gave up the thought of greasy, fatty foods as normal, because it’s not.

I’m not saying I’m never going to eat at McDonalds ever again or having a slice of pizza. Seeing it’s 2016,  and the idea of having no time to make healthy meals has been sold to this generation and the next. At least I know now.
